now

*coughs out mucus* Ah, that's better.

Now, the purpose of this post was to amuse you. And so I will tell you something amusing.

Last night, we went for iftar at the masjid. As soon as the athan was over, I ate a date and drank all my lemonade. Then I prayed. Then I feasted. The beef was veddy goot. So was the salad. As for dessert - pooh! I had two donuts and remained content. Then Halima Bean said she wanted to fight with me. So in the musalla we tussled and rolled on the ground, and a random kid became the fight announcer.

"The big one has won 5 times!"

"The big one has won 7 times!"

"Oh, the little one won 3 times!"

Before that the kid saw me playing with Lima Bean on the ground, and he said, "You look overgrown."

"I am," I said.

He squinted and said, "How old are you?"

"Fourteen."

He was silent.

Then, Lima Bean went spinning because she was bored. So she spun for a long time and she said, "Oh I'm gonna fall!" and she went crashing into a yellow table that held a can of soda.

She remained laying there for a moment. That kid and I came over to see if she was still alive. "She's dead!" the kid said, moving her arm. Obviously she wasn't, but the soda had spilled all over the ground and some on her shirt. Lima got up and saw the spilled soda. "Oh no! We have to clean this up! I can't let any grown-up know about this!" So me, her, the kid and his little brother cleaned up the mess. So that was that, but later...

Before Isha, a woman came into the musalla for vacuuuming. Dread overcame me. It should be dry by now, no worries, said my brain.

So in the beginning the vacuuming was okay, but when she went over the wet patch she asked me, "What is this?" and I shrugged. (>.< I feel really bad about doing that.) And when the vacuuming was over, sister told mom what really happened.

A few moments after that, sister came to me and said, "Lima Bean spilled coffee now!"

"Lol," I said.

And this morning, I went for tahajjud and suhoor at the masjid. When we were about to leave, Nev put on her blanket and draped it over her head. "This is my hiblanket," she said, indicating it was a mixup of hijab and blanket.

"No, it's a hijablanket!" I said.

"Yeah! Daisy, look at my hijablanket!" Nev told Lima Bean's mom.

"Hijablanket, eh?" she said.

More stuff happened. We went home.

Eid gifts, clothes and such

Me and S are mulling over the following dilemma: What to get friends for Eid?

Especially our friend Nev, who is a Mexican convert to Islam. This is going to be her first Eid. Also, our two friends Ra and Mar, who are newcomers here. They'll be spending their first Eid here too, so I thought we should get them something. Ah well. Tonight I'll go and ask Nev to guess what her present is. XD

I'm making tomato soup for iftar tonight. Yum :9 I love tomato soup :D

I cant figure out what to wear for Eid. Meh.

I'm sittin' here, nibblin' meh nails

And I shouldn't be. One of my Ramadan goals was to stop biting my nails. I must keep trying.

My stuffy nose is really annoying. Mosquitoes are too. So is heat. I like sun and summer, but it's too bad it makes me so hot.

Bye.

I'm sorry

If you're very sad now due to lack of posts on this wonderful blog, I shall tell you that I got sick on Tuesday, and it all started with Z's dumbness. See, he likes touching stuff and touching his face, henceforth declaring his grossness and lack of sanitary-ness. It is disliked by everyone in the family, except not as much to Dad (probably because he isn't home much).

So that dirty kid got sick, and then it was passed on to me, probably when I was making a smoothie for him. Hmmph. Darn kid didn't deserve it. So it all started with a sore throat. I was not fasting that day. Tuesday night was terrible. I had a headache and couldn't move. Sheez.

Well, I'm alright now, and yesterday we had four visitors; three girls and one boy, by the names Nev, Ra, Mar, and Kylie. I'm sure you all know who Kylie is, right? He's a regular visitor (every other week). Nev is a convert, and she came over to learn how to pray. Ra and Mar are sisters and they recently moved here, in June. We invited them over to play, because we were socially awkward with them. XD

Nev came first and left last. She came during my class (12:29, to be exact) and left before dinner (which I believe was 6:25).

It was a nice atmosphere, I guess. Hrrrmm.

I'm still sick, but I'm going to Jumu'ah today.

*sigh* Hammy is being mean to Kylie. Gosh, those guys can't be considered friends sometimes. Hammy always thinks he's the boss.

Horrid Colors.

I made sugar cookies today at around 9:40 AM. They're not completely finished. Right now the dough log is freezing in the freezer (duh) and it'll be done at 1:49, which is in about 38 minutes. I'm using this recipe that I typed up on my food blog. It's the best recipe ever. THANK YOU ROSE DUNNINGTON.

Right now I'm in Revved for Ramadan class #13. We're discussing surah Hud عَلَيهِ اَلسَلاَم.

"Away with 'Aad, the people of Hud عَلَيهِ اَلسَلاَم!" said Wisam.

Yeah, I agree with ya there, Sam.

سُبحَانَ اللَّه we can never appreciate Allah enough. We will never be happy with the blessings He bestows upon us.

That taken from my notes.

I cannot wait for the cookies to be done. This time they are a horrible color. They are maroon and some sort of hideously bluish indigo. I was aiming for lavender and lime green, but I clearly failed. The color is really ugly. You don't want to see it. But, to be on the optimistic side, I will bravely declare that they will at least taste scrumptious.

The tips of my fingers are colored blue, red, and purple/indigo. Dagh.

My hair is in two hairy braids that I did myself. Alh, I finally learned how to braid my own hair. Now I need to figure out how sister does hers in a French braid. Mother said my hair was too long and it needed a cut, but I told her I was planning to grow it until the end of Ramadan, and then I'd chop it off. My hair right now reaches below the middle of my back. That is long, but not as long as sister's hair used to be. Her hair reached her bottom! And then she chopped it all off because the heaviness of her hair was causing a dreadful headache.

Brother Hammy calls my hairbands 'Google glass'. -_- I wish he wasn't so obsessed with tech sometimes.

Well, that's all for now. Ta-ta!

Hulk Spiders

Thursday means laundry day. I hung the laundry about an hour ago.

LAUNDRY STORY (Thursday)
I heard a scratchy sound from the shed, so I went and looked inside. Darn cobwebs. I saw a lizard, a large one, with a blue tail! I got very excited and just stood there, watching it crawl over the bricks. Then I ran inside and told Skin, who was having class. She got an excited face and followed me to the backyard. The lizard had disappeared. "Call me when you see it again," said Skin.

So as I hung the laundry like a little slave, I saw it again and told Skin but when she came, I was at the computer, typing this, and she was at the backyard door. "Nu! Where are you?"

"Here I am," I said quickly, getting off the computer chair and running to the back door.

"I don't see it," Skin said.

"It is there! It was right there, sunbasking or something!" I said. Ugh, where did it go?!

"I went out," said Skin.

"Ohh, don't go out next time! You scared it!" I moaned.

Skin went back to class, and I continued hanging the laundry. I came upon a strange green spider. It was the color of a luna moth. It had four large front legs, and four small hind legs. And it had a gray-green spot on its back.

I just stared at it. What a strange spider.

Then the lizard was there again. Called Skin. She came. She grabbed something. Lizard ran away as fast as it could. Went up the wall and went into the nextdoor neighbor's garden. "Darn it!" I said.

The end. Darn lizards.

CURRENT ACTIONS/HAPPENINGS (Thursday)
Z is playing bad games on PBS. It's quite distracting, and is disturbing me in my Revved for Ramadan class. I'm hungry and my tummy is yelling at me, but I am ignoring it. Apparently my tummy does not have patience. I just made my volume louder to beat Z. I really want to shower, but my towel and my chosen clothes have not dried yet.

Wisam just said that we are all currently sitting on our coccyx bones. Our coccyx bone is made of five bones.

Wisam just said he could get a haircut like Zayn Malik's if he wanted to. Haha.

Yay, we received a call for mother on the Skype phone. That took Z away from his loud games, at least.

Mother just killed a fly. Yay! Now it won't be flying all around my head anymore.

Wisam asked us a question about a tree, and I answered Zaqqum, and he said, "Zaqqum! Yes! Good job, Sister Nur - er, Sister Nura."

Last night was interesting.

LAST NIGHT STORY (Wednesday night)
Characters: Me and my friends Aaq, Nab, Nev, Hib, and Sr

We arrived at the masjid about 15 minutes before Isha prayer. I saw Nab in the classroom sitting on a chair. I went to go say hi to her and her sister Aaq.

"'Keela!" I said. (that's her nickname.)

"Nu!" she said.

I gave her a neck-strangling hug, and Nev took a picture of it. "It looks like you're strangling her!" Nev said, giggling.

After Isha prayer, I went to go and sit no the new blue couch that had been placed in the masjid. I waved to Hib who had just finished praying with her mummy. Sr came and sat with me. "Hey!" she said. "What have you been doing these days?"

"Oh, sweating," I answered.

She laughed. Then Hib came to us. Sr and I hugged her and then Sr and Hib compared skin color.

"Wow, you're dark," Sr told Hib.

"I want to be white," said Hib.
"I want to be tan," said Sr. "Wanna trade?"

I just watched them. This was an LOL matter. At least to me.

Sr just talked to Hib, who stood there. "Don't you want to sit?" I asked.

"Yeah, come sit," said Sr.

"Okay," said Hib, sitting down.

Hib's family is going for Umrah. "Hib, when are you guys leaving?" I asked.

"We're going to El Paso on Sunday," she said.

So soon? Darn it! "Oh my. I'd better enjoy you while you're still here," I said.

She giggled. Or..how should I say this...breath-laughed.

"Don't go," I said patting her shoulder.

"I'll put you in my suitcase," she said. "Bring some water bottles."

Sr giggled. "Oh my God," I said, laughing.

So that's mainly it.

Three more minutes

I can't stand the smell of my breath right now. Three minutes 'till Maghrib.

I'm listening to Silent Sunlight by Dawud Wharnsby on Z's MP3. It's awesome.

Okay, the song ended. Now I'm listening to A Whisper of Peace. Not my favorite song. but it's still good to dance to.

"A light until the end of time this is Al-Islam."

Hammy just yelled, "IT'S MAGHRIB!!"

Three minutes can pass only so fast, huh? It's only 8:17, though.

Well, gotta go. Bye.

Blackout.

Saturday night we had a blackout.

Me and mom were watching funny videos on YouTube, Skin was on the other computer doing something, and Zeyo was showering.

Suddenly, the computer screen blinked once, and it turned black. Everything was silent.

I was surprised that Zeyo in the shower wasn't crying.

Skin said shakily, "M-Mom?" and Mom was all silent. Then Skin and mum started making weird moaning sounds and I just laughed nervously. I always laugh when I'm nervous.

Through the darkness, I saw Skin come to our computer and she asked, "Mom where are you?"

And then we all started grabbing at each other with our sweaty hands. I felt Skin's shaky, bony hand on mine. She shakily said my name. I'm like, chill out girl, blackouts aren't that bad.

But I have darkophobia. So I was also scared.

Then mum called, "Zeyo?"

And we heard the bathroom door open, and Zeyo crying in fright. Mum did some Malaysian baby talk to him.

I came up with a lightbulb idea (literally). "Skin! Get your phone!"

So all of us, in a cluster of fear, squished through the doorway to the room I shared with Skin. I was banged into the doorframe. "Ow!" I cried. We all started laughing.

"Hahaha! We are so hefty!"

We made our way to Skin's desk, where her phone was recharging. Skin unplugged it and held it in the air.

"Not very bright," I thought.

"Okay, we have light, now go to Hammy's room," said mum. "Zeyo here is still wearing his towel."

So we walked down the hallway to Hammy's room. Ummi gave Zeyo some clothes to put on. As he put them on, Ummi told Skin to call dad and tell him of our dilemma.

"Hello? Dad?"

Wow, her voice was REALLY shaking.

"Yes?" asked dad.

"We..we have a blackout! Do you have it there at the masjid too?"

"No."

Oh my gosh.

"Wh-what can we do?"

"Hm, ask your brother."

Brother Hammy came on the line. "Hullo?"

"Whammo, we have a blackout, what should we do?"

"Get the candles."

"Where are they?"

"Find them, light them, and you should be good," he said.

Wow, brother. You're the most helpful person in the world.

The phone was given back to dad.

"Can...can you stay?" asked Skin.

Like that would help. Sister, I never knew you to be so afraid of blackouts.

"Okay."

Fatly, we made our way to the kitchen. "I think the candles are in here," said mum, opening a drawer.

"Where's the lighter?" I asked.

"It's at the computer, go get it."

We lighted a candle and the dining room lighted up. Candles are quite strong.

At that moment we noticed outside. "Oh my god, it's so dark outside!" exclaimed Skin.

It was. "I want to shower," said mum.

"In this situation? Come on, mom," I said.

"It's so hot. I have to."

So she showered and while she did, me, Skin and Zeyo sat in the kitchen waiting. We heard a few firecrackers.

"Seriously? Seriously?" said Skin.

"Firecrackers will not help at all," I said.

"I know right?"

Pretty soon mum came down with some clothes in her hand. "Why've you got those?" I asked.

"To check on the old woman next door."

Well, she didn't do that. Ummi suddenly wanted to wash the dishes. Mum does strange things in urgent situations.

So mum washed the dishes and we dried them. we did that until dad and hammy came back.

The power outage continued, and dad suggested sleeping at the masjid.

Suddenly, the power came back on. The swamp cooler turned on, the lights and computer came on.

"Oh, alhamdulillah," said dad.

"Yay!" we said.

So that's mainly it. Later that night as Skin was getting ready for bed, she washed her face and she was wiping her face with a towel. Her eyes were covered, and I brought my face very close to hers. When she removed the towel from her face, she screamed. I was like VICTORY!

"Nuuu! You scared me! Oh my god!" she laughed.

I laughed too. "Didn't think you'd actually scream."

"That was like the first time you actually scared me! Usually it's so lame when you try."

"Were you thinking of something?" I asked.

"Yeah!"

She was scared because she thought the blackout was someone trying to murder us. Seriously, sister.

Ow, my throat is clogged with germs which is causing me to cough horridly

Eight more days until Ramadan, and 16 more lessons of math to finish by Saturday.

June 29, the masjid had a yard sale, and we went swimming. It was our last day.

Today, Kylie came, and he and H are making all of us laugh with their weirdness. This mornin' was speech therapy, and I took notes on a boring story called, "Freedom of the Press."

I'm trying to finish up my math right now, and I'm at Lesson #110 right now. Today's goal is to get to 118. This weekend I have to get to 126. I'm learning about x's and fractions and other junk. It's easier than the other stuff we've been learning about.

Here's the monster movie on YouTube.
